Whether you’ve already been to your fair share of distilleries or are new to the delicious (and educational) world of exploring the spirit-making process, knowing what to expect before you book a tour is helpful. Here at Lux Row Distillers, nothing makes us happier than sharing our history, process, and spirits with the world — and there’s no better way to do so than by opening our doors and allowing whiskey lovers to experience it for themselves.
If you’re wondering what happens on a Lux Row Distillers distillery tour, read on for a sneak peek:
The History of Lux Row Distillers and Its Spirits
Our distillery tours aim to make drinking as informative as it is fun, so we dedicate a portion of our tours to teaching visitors about the history of our brands. Take a look at some of the fascinating histories you’ll learn about:
You’ll also have the chance to learn about the history of Lux Row Distillers and our beautiful facility. Spanning over 18,000 square feet, our facility includes 10 barrel warehouses at capacity and a 43-foot custom copper still. We’re capable of producing 3 million gallons of spirits per year and continually growing and evolving while still preserving our roots and traditions. We’ve been in the business for over 40 years, and we’re honored to be located in the heart of a state that’s so rich with bourbon-steeped history.
Learn How We Distill Our Spirits
When you book either our Distiller’s Collection Select Tour or our Lux Row Distillers Production Tour, you’ll get an inside look at every step of the whiskey-making process. Milling, cooking, fermenting, distilling, and barreling are all explained and de-mystified, so you’ll walk away from our tours feeling like a pro. We’ll answer all your questions and walk you through what sets our spirits apart.
Another important topic we cover in our tours is the critical role our Master Distiller, John Rempe, plays in crafting our signature spirits. As a food scientist with over 20 years of distillation experience, he knows his way around a bottle of bourbon.
The Tasting Experience
Tasting is one of the most essential parts of all of our tours. Learning about whiskey, in theory, isn’t very useful if you don’t get to taste it in practice, so we teach you how to sniff, sip, and distinguish the differences in each pour.
You can also book our signature “A Taste of Lux Row” experience if the tasting portion of the day is more up your alley. To make things even sweeter (literally), the tasting also includes a chocolate pairing that’s entirely unique for Lux Row.
Bar and Gift Shop
Once you’ve finished your tour, you’ll probably be in the mood to keep your whiskey-centric day going. You’ll be free to do so in our bar, where you can order a dram of whichever spirit turns out to be your favorite. We encourage visitors to relax, enjoy, and savor the entire experience. Our knowledgeable staff is always there to help, so don’t hesitate to ask questions. Don’t worry, you’ll also be able to pick up a bottle or two in our gift shop to re-live the Lux Row experience at home.
