Blue sunny skies were the perfect backdrop for Lux Row Distillers’ first-ever industry hard hat tour. On Wednesday, July 26, we welcomed representatives from the Kentucky Distillers Association, Nelson County Economic Development Agency, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, media, and local and state tour agencies to the site for a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of Lux Row Distillers.
Creative Director Michele Lux and Director of Distillery Operations Tony Kamer led attendees on the private tour, highlighting the 18,000-square-foot distillery’s visitor center, retail area, and tasting room and bar. Attendees also got an up-close look at Lux Row’s fermenters, still, grain mills and other distilling equipment where David Nicholson, Blood Oath, Rebel Yell and Ezra Brooks bourbon whiskeys will be made in the coming months.

“Although we were standing on dirt and were literally surrounded by brick and mortar, as Lux talked about her concept for the space, it was easy to visualize because she was so enthusiastic and committed to the overall goal of creating a unique experience for visitors.”
“I visited Lux Row yesterday for a hard-hat tour and saw that since the installation of the 43-foot Vendome column still this past March, hot and chilled water tanks have been added along with meal bins, the beer well, fermenters (8,000 gallons each), cookers (4,000 gallons each), and piping connecting everything.”
“The 90-acre Ballard farm is surrounded on all sides by busy roads, but Lux knew that the bucolic property was well-shielded from the hustle and bustle going on just on the other side of the trees and rolling hills that border the parcel. Last week’s event at the under-construction distillery showed what the future of the farm would look like, with Lux doubling down on rustic charm in the designs.”
