Hard Hat Tour Highlights Lux Row Progress

Blue sunny skies were the perfect backdrop for Lux Row Distillers’ first-ever industry hard hat tour. On Wednesday, July 26, we welcomed representatives from the Kentucky Distillers Association, Nelson County Economic Development Agency, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, media, and local and state tour agencies to the site for a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of Lux Row Distillers. Creative Director Michele Lux and Director of Distillery Operations Tony Kamer led attendees on the private tour, highlighting the 18,000-square-foot distillery’s visitor center, retail area, and tasting room and bar. Attendees also got an up-close look at Lux Row’s fermenters, still, grain mills and other distilling equipment where David Nicholson, Blood Oath, Rebel Yell and Ezra Brooks bourbon whiskeys will be made in the coming months. Lux Row Virtual Tour

Experience Lux Row Distillers before its doors officially open by taking a virtual tour. Make your way up the tree-lined driveway to Lux Row’s sprawling 90-acre site. Take a step inside the Visitor Center and tasting room, home to the distillery’s retail experience and where you’ll sip award-winning brands alongside your fellow bourbon-lovers. Then tour where the fermenting, cooking and distilling will take place before heading out to see the distillery’s 6-story barrel warehouse, where 20,000 barrels of Kentucky Straight Bourbon will be housed and aged. Distillery Construction Update

Springtime has been busy at Lux Row Distillers –sunny skies and warmer temperatures have helped, as construction has been moving right along in the Bardstown countryside. The 20,000 square foot, six-story warehouse is now complete and ready to hold 20,000 barrels of Kentucky’s finest bourbon. In addition, internal tanks have been installed – both hot and chilled water tanks, fermenters, the beer well and the cookers. Lux Row Distillers cookers are 4,000 gallons each and the fermenters have a capacity of 8,000 gallons each, standing at 18 feet tall. Meal bins have been installed and are ready to receive the good stuff to make some bourbon. (more…)

Installation of the 43′ Copper Column Still

Progress is being made at Lux Row Distillers construction site – and a major milestone has been achieved – the distillery’s all-copper column still from Vendome Brass and Copper Works has been installed. With its base, the still stands at 43 feet and weighs 6,293 pounds, with a 36-inch diameter. “This is a momentous day for us at Lux Row Distillers,” says Donn Lux. “The still is the heartbeat of a distillery and we have carefully chosen the perfect still for Lux Row. We are looking forward to putting this still to good use soon, making some fine bourbon.” (more…)
